Capcom breaks down the new silly Devil May Cry 5 deluxe weapons

October 08, 2018 2 min read

Capcom revealed the Deluxe Edition content for Devil May Cry 5 several weeks ago, but now thanks to a new Capcom Unity blog, we have a better idea of what we're actually getting. As was announced the deluxe iteration will include "classic battle themes," an upgraded motorcycle weapon for Dante (that has one new move but is easier to get knocked out of combos with), alt announcer packs, "live action cutscenes," and four weapons: the Pasta Breaker, Sweet Surrender, Gerbera GP01 and the Mega Buster. Let's quickly break them down one by one.

So the Gerbera (which is actually a kind of daisy) is a tribute to Shoji Kawamori, who worked on the Gundam and Macross series, and allows the protagonist Nero to do a quick air dart downward or upward. The Pasta Breaker, which is comprised of "various kitchen utensils and other spare parts" doesn't do a whole lot of damage, but it allows you to quickly swap gear (Devil Breakers) when using it. This seems to be the patented "joke weapon" found in many action games, where veterans can challenge themselves by way of self-imposed road blocks.

The Sweet Surrender is a little more useful as it allows Nero to passively regenerate health or perform a break ability for a quick health spurt, though it can't actually attack. The Mega Buster was previously covered in a prior video, which we've placed below in case you missed it.

In all most of these seem balanced to the point where I wouldn't be pissed if I missed out on the Deluxe Edition.
