I've wanted to do a Carter's Quest style assignment for the Metal Gear series for a long, long time. It's an insane prospect though, as there are so many entries, spinoff and core, to wade through and wrap my head around again (a list that now includes Metal Gear Survive).
Every time I think about what my favorite entries might be I have to do a double-take, but the currently attached director of the Metal Gearfilm seems to have some firm thoughts. Just recently over Twitter, Jordan Vogt-Roberts (who is coming off of the commercially successful Kong: Skull Island), shared his two picks -- Portable Ops and Peace Walker.
In his full statement Vogt-Roberts noted: "Just putting it out there that Portable Ops and Peace Walker. are two of the most brave and affecting entries in the MGS series and I don’t think they get the attention they deserve because they were on the PSP." It's a fair point, because while the PSP was popular in Japan, a lot of folks missed out on several gems in the west.
Vogt-Roberts has been attached since 2014 to this project -- so provided that it doesn't fall through it sounds like it's in capable hands.
