Nintendo did their usual Nintendo thing and relegated amiibo to the Treehouse/after Direct portions of their E3 plans, and there were a few figures announced this week that you may want to keep track of.
First up is the Link's Awakening amiibo, which is a cartoony rendition of Link in the style of the upcoming Switch remake. He'll add a unique "plus effect" to created dungeons: a Shadow Link that "chases you through several different rooms." Nintendo has noted that every Zelda character amiibo will also add some sort of plus effect to Link's Awakening.
They also revealed the previously announced designs for Incineroar, Dark Samus, Chrom, and Richter, and put up Solid Snake, Ivysaur, Squirtle, and the aforementioned Link's Awakening figure up for pre-order. As you can see, the vast majority of Nintendo's amiibo strategy is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate related at this point: in the sense that they feel obligated to complete the entire roster.
