It's one small step for My Nintendo kind, but at least there's something to use Gold Points on now instead of discounts for games you probably already own and earned points for.
As a reminder Gold Points are obtained through a 5% rebate of sorts on digital purchases (physical is 1%), and starting this week, you can use them directly on the eShop for discounts. Don't get too excited though, as the conversion is extremely low -- as in, one point equals one cent.
As Nintendo points out, a $60 game nets you 300 Gold Points, which is a $3 discount. It's not quite as deep as PS+ and Xbox Live Gold when it comes to discounts, but it's something, and that's more than Nintendo has done in the first year of the Switch's existence.
