Among some sweet dedications and some absolutely cringeworthy retorts from host Joel McHale (I just get flashbacks to his duties for Ubisoft), Niantic took the stage during the 21st Annual Webby Awards to accept an award for Pokemon Go. Given that winners were rattled off in seconds flat they didn't have much time to sound off, but global marketing product lead for Niantic Archit Bhargava did state that "this summer will be legendary," alluding to the long time coming drop of legendary Pokemon in the game.
While Niantic has hinted that it'll be this year they still haven't given us a timeframe, so this is the best information we have to go on. My guess is that Nintendo may even co-opt some sort of announcement into their E3 festivities, which include a Direct style presentation and a series of Treehouse Live segments.
While I rarely play Go these days (the grind is just too much post 30), I'll probably be spurred enough to snatch a legendary or two. I just hope they aren't impossible to find or heavily reliant on promotions.
