Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered is heading to PC, PS4 and Xbox One this year

The very best game in the Red Faction series, Guerrilla, is getting a remaster on PC, PS4 and Xbox One this year. Stupidly titled "Re-Mars-tered," this new port will contain reworked textures with support for 4K resolutions along with brand new shaders, shadow maps and lighting. There isn't mention of whether or not the multiplayer component will be retained, nor what the price is, but the remaster will be launching in Q2 2018.

While I typically groan at the amount of re-releases we see in this industry, Red Faction Guerrilla was easily one of the best open-world games from last generation. That so many people overlooked it due to the series' pedigree of decent-ish titles is a shame. Having the ability to swing a hammer at a building and watch it crumble was not only cathartic, but a central design point of most of the missions.

So, yeah, bring on this remaster. Everyone should take a crack at Guerrilla, if only to witness a tower crumble onto a car that then explodes and starts a chain reaction of buildings getting demolished.
