The retro video game purveyors at Hamster are feeling shmuppy this week and have chosen to re-release colourful '80s arcade Time Pilot, now available to download on PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
Developed by Konami, Time Pilot hit the arcades in 1982. Time Pilot is a multi-directional shmup which has the novel plot line of a futuristic jet fighter traveling through various time zones to rescue pilots in danger. The player can blast through the skies in all directions, dog-fighting with fleets of enemies, representative of the stage's current time zone.
Thus you'll do battle with biplanes and blimps for the earlier ages, helicopters and transports in the '70s, jet fighters in the '80s, before reaching 2001, where you'll do battle against the humble UFO that we all own now. Time Pilot would see great success on release and receive a sequel, the awesomely titled Time Pilot '84: Further Into Unknown World.
Time Pilot is available to download now on PS4 in Japan and Nintendo Switch worldwide, priced at around $8
