Xbox has been on a roll lately with how frequently the backward compatibility program gets additions that make you think "oh hell yeah I'd play that again!" Last week, it was Prey. Now, it's a PlatinumGames cult classic.
Starting today, Vanquish is available to play on Xbox One through backward compatibility. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Lightand Brave were also added to ever-growing list of last-gen games that can be played on Xbox One.
Originally launched in 2010, Vanquish has found a niche following for its cover-is-good-but-movement-is-better action shooter sensibilities. It was, uh, polarizing at release.
Since then, the legend of Vanquish has only grown stronger. Sega put out a PC version last spring with uncapped framerates and resolutions. But, for anyone who wants to see Vanquish in its original state, well, that can be accomplished on Xbox One now.
